The most southerly capital city in the world, Wellington is nestled in a bay and surrounded by mountains at the very south of North Island.

With only just over 300,000 people it is really small as capital cities go, but it has a very cosmopolitan feel to it.

It also feels quite “funky” with lots of young people and a “craft” culture…. craft beers, chocolate, sodas, coffees….you can find it all here.

The city retains some of its history through it’s 100 plus year old houses.

Some of these old houses, like the one my friend owns, sit high above the city.
